Norwich YBC would like to congratulate Michael Nock and Matthew Fidgett for their efforts at the Junior Team England Training that took place on the 16th and 17th January.
On Saturday 16th the boys took part in an inter-squad tournament at Madison Heights, where Michael finished 2nd and Matthew 3rd. Then, on the 17th the boys took part in the first Team England Adult tournament of the season - the Knockout Singles at Romford.
After the qualifying rounds Michael lay in 9th place with a score of 1918 over 9 games and Matthew just one place and one pin behind in 10th with a 1917. They were the only boys out of the Junior Team England squad to make it through to the Knockout Finals.
In the first round of the Knockout Finals Matthew faced off against James Tidd but unfortunately came up just short and was knocked out by 29 pins over two games. Michael faced off against Yorkshire's Dan French and produced a comfortable 40 pin victory to go through to the next round.
However, in a much closer tie in the next Knockout Round Michael was defeated by Adam Purnell (who went on to finish 3rd) as 369 played 355.
At the end of the tournament Michael was placed in 8th and Matthew in 10th beating all of the other Junior England Squad members as well as some other notable adult bowling stars such as Dom Barrett, Matt Giles, Mike Quarry, John Wells and Matt Miller
